...or at least take me out to the nursery. We've reached a major post-Christmas milestone this week in getting the nursery DONE! It's so cute. We are going with an interesting "Cows vs. Giraffes in the World Series" theme. Okay, it's really just a baseball theme, with a fair number of cows (in honor of Derek) and giraffes (tall blondes, like me) thrown in for good measure.
And like every good home improvement project, this one was a group effort. My cool Uncle Jimmy came to the rescue to instruct us on the finer points of installing crown molding, only to discover that the walls in the room are not even close to straight or level. (No surprise in a 50+ year old house!) My dad worked like a CHAMP, coming over from dawn to well past dark more than a few days to help with painting (his least favorite chore), installing a new closet system, a new ceiling fan, and at least 17 trips to Lowes & Home Depot. Why we don't just move our house to the parking lot of Lowes is beyond me - would save us loads of time. And the project would still not be finished without the a help of my awesome mom, who sewed curtains, scraped paint off the window, and even polished the hardwood floor. But I have to give Derek props for my favorite item in the room - the baseball finials on the curtain rod. Yep, they are the real deal - real baseballs. Don't ever try to tell me that a cow doc can't also be an engineer. Way to go Team Nursery Decor!
I'm so pleased with the way it came together. I told Derek that it just doesn't seem like a room that goes in our house - probably because it's so neat & organized right now! We stood in the room last night, and I just had this surreal, "we're-going-to-put-our-kid-in-here-SOON" feeling and I'm so grateful to have a nice place to bring him home. It's the same room I came home from the hospital to, and there's something really amazing and special about that. Let's just hope Torquil doesn't develop the same irrational fear of baseball that I developed for my clown-theme room...

couild the room be any cuter.....I'm so impressed that little Torquil, or Reid, or Bocephus has such a cool room and he isn't even here yet! Way to go!

Ummmm...I think that room needs a little 2007 World Champion Red Sox memorabilia....can't wait to meet Torquil and outfit him with a REAL team's stripes...
