The light at the end of the tunnel...

Wednesday Mar 05, 2008

So, this baby will eventually be born! I went back to the doctor today and they are finally ready to induce. Unfortunately, the next available date on their induction schedule is Tuesday March 11. Rex must be a busy baby factory these days! They are going to try and work me in earlier if someone who is already on the schedule goes into labor on her own, but I certainly won't go past the 11th. I can't even tell you what a relief it is to know that there is an end in sight!

And I'm still hoping that Torquil will decide on his own that it's time to be born. Maybe the eviction notice will get him moving in that direction ...

As we were leaving the doctor's office today, the Muzak in the elevator was playing John Mayer's "Waiting on the World to Change." I thought it was such an appropriate song for what I'm feeling right now. Although the lyrics are really about my generation's apathy over working towards changes we want to see in the world, the chorus just spoke to me in that moment. Just the phrase "waiting on the world to change" captures all my anticipation and anxiety over the changes that are going to come in my world. Great song.

And by the way, John Mayer used to be my back-up husband in the event that Derek ever gets fed up and leaves me ... that was until he got together with Jessica "Chicken from the Sea" Simpson and then showed up in this atrocious man-thong. (Warning - photo is not suitable for sensitive eyes!) Yikes! John, my love affair with you is over. But you can still sing me to sleep, okay?
